Oh my heavens, friends, it’s officially summer. Although I work summer school in July, I treasure these two weeks between school getting out and summer school starting. I really packed my weekend full of fun things to do, but the icing on the cake was getting to tool around the city in a brand new 2017 Toyota Corolla XSE! They even sent me out to check out the Taste of Tacoma event last weekend so of course I’m bringing you a full report. But for now, let me show you the car, and the outfit I wore to beat the 90 degree heat!
I have really enjoyed getting to know the Toyota Corolla this week. It’s so fun to drive, incredibly comfortable, and pretty darn cute, too! I’m a sucker for a candy apple red and this shade, “Barcelona red”, definitely caught my eye. With leather seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and all of the latest technology including a 7″ high-resolution touchscreen display, the interior feels like a luxury cockpit. There’s also tons of legroom, adequate storage, and a spacious backseat and trunk compartment. The best part is the fantastic gas mileage it gets. At 31 MPG it could save you $1000 in fuel cost over five years compared to the average new car. For someone who commutes as much as I do, that sounds pretty wonderful.
Since I spent the bulk of my weekend outdoors, I got a pretty nasty sunburn on both legs, my left arm, and chest. Since I was heading out for an afternoon food festival on Sunday, the Taste of Tacoma event, I knew the best option was a maxi dress. It saved me from additional heat damage, while being cool and airy on a 90 degree summer day. Plus, since it’s made of a stretchy cotton blend fabric, a dress like this is perfect for a long car ride!
